Hello all,

Thank you so much for all your help couldn’t of done it with out you Um yeah bin great We fixed the problem, Um thanks again.

Sorry for any confusion with this there is a lot of issue happening all at once due to Lutris not cooperating with the system explanation is at the bottom.

I have been having trouble with Lutris and wine but everything seams to be pointing back to Lutris as the problem and this one when I want to play Path Of Exile

At the time of this was copied I had already uninstalled Battle.net but was getting the same error message when it was installed.

I have also since downloaded proton plus and the wine-staging-tkg 10.6 is no longer available for download and is most probably the reason why I cannot add or play Battle.net.

Is there any other fixes for this as I have searched for about 3 months with this very same problem before I come here.

I have also noticed that in my Lutris account my Library Games have disappeared this could be cause of the problem when I add more to the games library I go back a day later and the My Games Library is empty again ???

My lutris app on my PC shows games are there but error messages occur as above even though all the games are there and load due to them being installed on my system, but trying to play them that’s when I get the wine issue cannot interact with the game it’s self…The wine issue has since been fixed by reinstalling the system update, I can now load and play games but not with Lutris causes wine issue cannot use keyboard and mouse or interact with the game when opening the games with lutris and to fix this issue I have to reinstall the update again to fix the wine issue because I have no idea what’s causing the issue in the first place but it keeps pointing back to Lutris causing the problem and I still have other games on the lutris that actually work…

The problem is that I cannot interact with battle.net installed or during installation the keyboard and mouse just do not connect with any part of the configuration.

I have a video of the failed Lutris -d out put and the reason why I could not place my problem in to Lutris -d trying to put this problem in to a screen shot is kind of a mute point does not show the extent of the problem.

I need to upload a video to show the full extent of the problem but I cannot find away to add the video.

I installed wine meta yesterday and got it all working and this morning it is back to the same problems after installing Lutris and bottles again so I could install my games this bug as I am calling it is due to a missing id which I found in the Lutris logs.

If I can fix this I should be able to fix the rest. I just cannot get the game and Lutris -d to cooperate at this time.

Just a quick note ; All the games that I added to my Lutris Library Account are all gone again.
I would really like to know WTF is going on I have Changed my password twice and it still keeps happening.

I was so insanely frustrated I did some deep breathing exercises and I solved it, I think well the games are working and I can interact with them all of them.

OK I think I Have it worked out and stable now, I was having a very frustrating time with Lutris on Garuda KDE Lite system, especially with the ‘TypeError: ‘in’ requires string as left operand, not NoneType’ error, issues with Battle.net and Grim Dawn, and my game library disappearing from my Lutris account.

Oh before all of this I updated then Reinstall Lutris I was on Lutris 0.5.19. While this is a recent version, sometimes a fresh install can resolve corrupted files NOPE!.

So I went to work on it and to break down the problems I tried to find some solutions on the internet, leveraging my interest in understanding and improving my operating system Garuda KDE Lite and trying to understand the Core Issues, I based on my logs and descriptions, there appear to be a few distinct, but potentially related, problems;

TypeError: 'in' requires string as left operand, not NoneType: This is a Python error occurring within Lutris itself (specifically lutris/game.py and lutris/runners/runner.py). It means that a variable which is expected to be a string (like a file path or command line argument, game_folder in this case) is unexpectedly None. This often happens when a game’s installation path or configuration isn’t correctly set or retrieved by Lutris. This is the main error preventing Grim Dawn or Battle.net from running correctly and causing the “cannot interact with games” issue.

Potential Solutions and Troubleshooting Steps

Given my operating system is Garuda KDE Lite and I want to learn to improve it, I’ll try to be thorough, I thoroughly searched the internet for answers as I wasn’t getting any answers else where in forums due to my inability to explain anything while frustrated, through my frustration I searched the first issue;

Addressing the TypeError: 'in' requires string as left operand, not NoneType

This error is critical. It implies Lutris isn’t getting a valid path for game_folder, so what I did was…

  1. Re-install the specific game in Lutris:
  • Completely remove Grim Dawn and Battle.net from Lutris.
  • I Made sure all related Wine prefixes and folders are also removed (I checked ~/.local/share/lutris/runners/wine and ~/Games).
  • I Re-installed Grim Dawn first through Lutris, ensuring I followed the exact installation script. I found that Sometimes, custom paths or non-standard installations can cause this.
  1. I checked Game Configuration in Lutris:

    Right-click on Grim Dawn in Lutris → Configure.

    I went to the “Game Options” tab.

    Then verify the “Executable” path and “Working directory” are correct and point to valid locations.

    Ensured “Wine prefix” is set correctly.

    Went to the “Runner Options” tab and ensured that “Wine version” is set to a known good version (I tried a recent Lutris-provided Wine-GE or Proton-GE both were available first one I tried worked). Either worked for me.
    Then I check for any “system-wide” runners that might be interfering.

Then I did the same for Battle.net and all the other games that I could not interact with and now they all work and games on my lutris account are not disappearing any more after changing my password.
