Battle.net Install crashes before it even properly starts

Greetings. Today I tried to re-install Battlenet after a long hiatus. In my previous rodeo with lutris this was no problem, and I got to playing hearthstone battlegrounds easily. This time the process did not go smoothly. At first I simply encountered the BLZBNTBNA000000005 error, and because I was unaware this was a frequently encountered problem, i went for the simple solution of updating my system, uninstalling battlenet, restarting my system and re-installing it again.

This did not work out the way i wanted it to.
After the system update any attempts at reinstalling battlenet have yielded the same result. I have no idea what to make of this, and am at my wits end.

lutris -d

I hope that I given all the information needed in the proper manner, and that I didn’t miss anything in the FAQ that is going to solve this issue immediately.

Thank you

Hello, I just read your log, try this: change your Wine version from 8.26 to “GE-Proton latest”.
If you don’t have “GE-Proton latest” in your list, you will need to install GE-Proton 10.4 (or an older version) with a tierce app like ProtonPlus.

The “Blizzard battle.net-setup” and Lutris - rough walk on Archlinux (Garuda Mokka)

First i tried to install it thru steam - nope, no go, Then i managed to start it with Proton 10.0.0.1
Battlenet starts, installs game (Diablo III works) but Diablo Immortal crashes right after when u try select server.

Work around was:

Trying install Blizzards Battle.(.)net under Lutris - scrips for latest Battle.net-setup do not excist.

Lutris pops Error:

./local/share/lutris/runners/wine/ge-proton/bin/wine /path_to_game/battle.net-Setup.exe can not exexcute file.

Looking in dir i saw : ~/.local/share/lutris/runners/

drwxr-xr-x - 31 aug 11:20 wine
.rw-r–r-- 33 29 aug 19:42 linux.yml
.rw-r–r-- 26 29 aug 19:42 steam.yml
.rw-r–r-- 164 31 aug 11:16 wine.yml

Inside Lutris GUI - Wine was nowhere to see , so i pondered what the hell is with it - solution was simple , editing wine.yml and
replace line:
visible_in_side_panel: false
with:
visible_in_side_panel: true

Make sure u have some stuff done in konsole before proceed:

ls -al ./local/share/lutris/runners/wine

drwxr-xr-x - 31 aug 11:20 .
drwxr-xr-x - 31 aug 11:16 …
drwxr-xr-x - 31 aug 11:20 ge-proton - this was not present so i had to create manually
drwxr-xr-x - 31 aug 11:14 wine-10.8-staging-i386
drwxr-xr-x - 31 aug 11:14 wine-10.8-staging-tkg-ntsync-x86_64
drwxr-xr-x - 31 aug 11:14 wine-ge-8-26-x86_64

creating directorys necessary -
mkdir ge-proton && cd ge-proton && mkdir bin && cs bin && ln -s …/…/wine-ge-8-26-x86_64/bin/wine wine
it was for me and MAY be different for other users with ln command

Ended up with i was able to get Battle.net-Setup.exe to start within lutris Environment thru wine

It ended up battlenet.exe appearing as new Windows sub-selection and was launching but gave errors.

Exit app, and open up Lutris - go to Windows section , select Launcher app , below next to play , select Arrow up > configure > Runner tab > Select proton 10.0.0.1 if present - was installed by Steam app, when i tried to figure out getting how to start BattleNet running under Steam - tho error with DiabloImmortal was still same on Steam- crash right when needed select Server to play.

I do not know why , but newer version above Proton 10.0.0.1 crash.

So after BattleNet.exe runs on Lutris - i pointed it to Diablo III and Diablo Immortal install directories - and games now run.

**** ADVICE ****
It is strongly suggested to keep Steam and Lutris games on different disk at all times /dev/SDA system and /dev/SDB steamapp_disk or something like this - saves up re-installing time , due nowdays games are 10-s of Gb of data.
