World of Warcraft / Battle.net instal fail

Hi,

The installation of Battle.net / World of Warcraft fails. It downloads the Battle.net app. However, I can not start this.

“Launcher.exe could not be found.”
I searched the WoW folder and my system. However, no Battle.net app can be found.

What can I do?

On the website there is a WoW launcher. Can I use this in conjunction with the install script? Can I download it separately and copy it to the already created folder?

Or does your instal work. then not script anymore?

The Battle.net installer is just for a standalone battle.net installer, and that installer is actually already updated to Lutris 0.4.14 script. So if you want it standalone, make sure your Lutris is 0.4.14.

If you want to install WoW, use the installer here:

https://lutris.net/games/world-of-warcraft/

That will install Blizzard App, and you can use that to install / locate WoW.

Thank you for your answer.

I want to install WoW and use the script. (https://lutris.net/games/world-of-warcraft/)
Wine was downloaded.
Battle.net app has also been downloaded and completed.

However, I can not start the game. It does not find Battle.net.
I also do not find it in my system.

Are there any general problems? Can anybody confirm this?

I use Lutris 0.4.14

Hmm, just retested both scripts just to be sure. The scripts are still correct.

Battle.net Launcher.exe” is in the folder drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Battle.net of the prefix.

  1. While you were installing, did you get to the point where you can log into the Blizzard App?
  2. What Linux destribution are you using? Which version?

I suspect that there are problems downloading battle.net.
I can not download via the website. It always breaks off.

Lutris is very fast. It says that it is successful and a Windows10 prefix is also created.

The folder drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Battle.net does not exist.

  1. I can not log in. There comes the error message that it does not exist.
  2. Debian9 Stretch (up to date)

Can someone please try to download the launcher completely?

I had that issue last week 1 time aswell, or well similar. The battlenet app downloaded, but couldn’t update and the script detects that as it being complete anyway (thats the nature of the script to make it fast normally). I just removed the prefix and did it again, then it succeeded.

https://www.battle.net/download/getInstallerForGame?os=win&locale=enUS&version=LIVE&gameProgram=BATTLENET_APP

(The link you get from https://eu.battle.net/account/download/)

This link is exactly what the script downloads. Try downloading it by hand, see if it completes for you. If it does the script should do the same. The script for WoW doesn’t do much fiddling nowadays, just download the battlenet app, start it, run it, then sets 3 things or so.

Now, I’m not sure if you have spotted this:

  • System dependencies required for Blizzard App online access:
    Arch: lib32-gnutls lib32-libldap lib32-libgpg-error
    Ubuntu: libgnutls30:i386 libldap-2.4.2:i386 libgpg-error0:i386

Check if you have those, or equiv for Debian.

No chance. I can not download Battle.net.
Other downloads work. I tried it with two browsers and a downloader. No idea what’s going on.

From another server I could download the app.
One more question. Where does the script load the app normally? That I can copy the exe there.

Which server did you end up using? There seem to have been a lot of connection issues last week to blizzard services. I’m not sure what happens when the installer fails to download…but that would ofc fail the installer completely.

I searched for a mirror on a search engine.

Since I do not play actively, I can wait until the problems are resolved.
By the way, it’s a shame that you can not download 3.5MB from a company like Blizzart. Over days.

Thank you for your help. If it worked, I’ll let you know.

If my line is fully loaded, I can almost completely download it. If I do not download anything, it will not work.
Can someone do something with it?

Oaky, I’m one step ahead.

Without router and switch the bar goes through, but the second one does not work and at the end the app is not installed again.

Am I really the only one with this problem?

(sorry for spam)

You need to install like a hell of a lot of packages for your linux distro, so the Battle.net installer completes installation.

Download the desktop app:

Install wine-staging (this command is for ubuntu): sudo apt install wine-staging or use Synaptic package manager to install it. The current version of wine-staging is 2.21.0. Don’t install winehq-devel 3.0 rc2 because it’s buggy and fails.

Then run the Battle.net installer: wine Battle.net-Setup.exe

You should be able to install like in Windows and login to your account:

Thank you for your answer @parigan.

@Dox has already written a great script, which contains everything necessary so far.
Something is not working yet. Partially my problem was with Blizzard. The download works only if you have no router or switch switched between.

I also tried to install it without Lutris, but it does not work and I would like to let it run on Lutris.

I’m having the same problem, I also fail at installing Battle.net. I use Fedora 27, with nvidia driver 340.106. I think I installed all the Dependencies. I recorded the console output with:

$ lutris >> log.txt

trying to install wow. I try opening wow after the failed install, it then says it did’t find the battle.net-Launcher. log.txt:

Thank you so much! This fixed the problem for me! usint ubuntu mate 18.04 beta 2.

System dependencies required for Blizzard App online access:
Arch: lib32-gnutls lib32-libldap lib32-libgpg-error
Ubuntu: libgnutls30:i386 libldap-2.4.2:i386 libgpg-error0:i386

Actually installing libs above still didn’t fix the problem. But I found that the problem was caused by wine-stagging not being supported anymore and so I had to manually install it. This fixed the problem for me and now I was able to install wow. For installing wine-stagging follow the steps from the site : https://wine-staging.com/installation.html
