Wine try to create a window, but no driver could be loaded

Hello everybody, since a week i’m having some issue with wine.
I’m trying to use any software with lutris, but keep refusing opening games.
I tried with the most basic software that came with wine, notepad…nothing!
I think the problem is in my xorg configuration files (I could be wrong, i don’t know).

I’ll post some log for you guys to see…any help is appreciated!

I can’t tell from that, exactly why wine cannot initialize. The barfery is the symptom, not the cause.

It is more likely to be a dependency on your system that has changed rather than xorg configuration though.

I also can’t tell from that what distribution you are using. Also, systemd or non-systemd? (in which case elogind with elogind-runit would be necessary for this stuff)

I’ll share all the package that i have on my system (I don’t know if it helps, but it’s something)

(Had to put a pastebin cause i reached the amount of characters)

In the meantime, i managed to configure my xorg file config properly and still have the same problem, so it’s definitelly not that!
I tried to remove some mesa packages thinking that could be the problem, but i can’t remove them as they are required for garuda’s packages.

If there is anything that i can post to understand what’s the problem that is causing all this, please let me know

I tried to change some options, in the meanwhile, and i found out that if i change the “Vulkan ICD loader” from “Auto: Nvidia Proprietary” to “Intel Open Source (MESA:ANV)”, every game start, but they are all slow AF! (even with the option “Enable NVIDIA Prime Render Offload” and “Use discrete graphics” enabled).

Also, today nvidia-settings shows up like this (which is strange, because it filled with informations)

But games on lutris still won’t starts…i’m about to nuke this pc, i swear to god! it’s almost a week and a half…

Searching on the arch forum, people said that could be some problem with library…in fact i found out that some library don’t have others connected…like this

but those 2 files that are not found, are in the same folder… could this be the problem?

Normally that finding would be a show stopper, but I can tell you that’s normal for winex11.so to show those files as not found in that context (that directory is not a system location). They will be satisfied when that library is loaded.

Just to be silly, lemme demonstrate

Then the dynamic linker can find the files lol

Technically the ldd code that i showed, is from “/use/lib/wine/x86_64-unix/”, so it is a system folder…
I tried to escape from the hell of windows, but linux seems to be another hell too :frowning:

Ps. now that i’m noticing that, i did “export” from the console, and i don’t have any “LD_LIBRARY_PATH”… shouldn’t i have one?

No, I’m just trying to show you the reason why those files are not found when using the ldd command on libraries in that directory. When I said system location, I should have said “system library location” meaning a directory that’s in the dynamic linker’s path. These are directories like /usr/lib , /usr/lib32 (good old Arch), /usr/lib64, /usr/local/lib, or *buntuisms like /usr/lib/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu etc. Wine will SET variables or find those libraries at run time.

I did not mean for you to set any LD_LIBRARY_PATH there, just to look elsewhere for the problem. Believe me, I’m reading your posts and if something were to jump out at me I’d be on it, but unfortunately I don’t know what’s going on either.

Ah…ok…thank you for your time and your patience.

PS. I’m noticing right now that even steam won’t start games that are supposed to work with wine… the native one work flawlessly…except sometimes they got some sort of hiccups…but i don’t mind that

Continuing my research on how to fix my issue i ran into a post on the arch linux forum where this guy had the gpu off and no process working on it… i tried to execute the same command on my end to see the result and this shows up

my gpu is off, but it run xorg…what?!?
i have to say that i installed optimus-manager, reading the nvidia section of the arch wikia, but i leaved it as it is…
didn’t changed any configuration from it…and it’s in hybrid mode…

On the switching method there are those voices:

  • None
  • Nouveau
  • Bbswitch
  • ACPI call
  • Custom

Now is set on None, which worries me (maybe it’s the cause the gpu doesn’t work?).
I know that nouveau is the open source alternative for nvidia driver, but it’s old and it’s best to avoid it (veterans, let me know if i’m wrong).
Bbswitch and ACPI call i don’t know what they do, but i can say that if i have to chose one of the 2, i can’t choose ACPI call because i set grub with the flag “pcie_aspm=off” or the system won’t start or stop and shows shitton of errors.

Today an update came out for vulkan ver. 23.0.1-1 and apparently fixed all my lutris games…i’m gonna try steam games too…

At the end of the day was some problem with the librarys…

Yeah, the latest DXVK and vkd3d-proton need newer mesa, but 22.x should have been OK. In any case, you shouldn’t have been using the Intel GPU, but the Nvidia one, and the Nvidia driver (which has its own Vulkan implementation)

Wine 7.1 or newer is also required for latest DXVK

Perhaps your graphics weren’t switching for whatever reason.

Nevermind, the system opens up steam games, lutris games (except for overwatch 2 'cause battle.net launcher sucks), but some game refuse to open up or install at all…with the same error

I’m glad that 70% of my “only windows” games work, but man… that’s though being on linux and not have any issue…
