I have POP! OS with Lutris v5.18 and I wish to use Proton via Lutris.
Proton does not show up in the Wine runners list.
I downloaded the Debian version of UMU Launcher from github but there were two installers in the .zip; one is just UMU launcher, the other is Python with the UMU launcher.
Which one of those am I supposed to install? The one with Python or the one without Python? Or should I install them both? If so, in which order?
The specific files in question are:
python3-umu-launcher_1.1.4-1_amd64.deb
umu-launcher_1.1.4-1_all.deb
I do not know which one of those I should install. Or both of them?
Either package works. The zipapp package is better so no worrying about any python dependencies. umu-launcher GitHub has better package clarification
I personally build and install from Git source
Edit: Not enough coffee, and the title of the post - For clarity, Neither package version provides a Proton, just the ability to easily use Protons to run things instead of WINE.
Protons are still downloaded from Valve, or ge-proton. You can get ge-proton via the Lutris client provided version (as per kaimon’s post, thank you), or download it from GloriousEggroll’s GitHub.
If you are missing umu-run in Lutris, you can get it from the same updates tab under the “runtimes” box: -
