Hey, I couldn’t find a record of this issue anywhere else. I have no idea if it is Linux specific, or if this happens on Windows too. There is a similar issue that happens on Windows, but mine is not quite identical to it. Let me explain.
Some of my settings in ESO will occasionally reset. Not all of them, mind you. Specifically, any settings under “Interface” and “Nameplates” will reset every few launches. Sometimes it persists for days, other times it forgets the settings on the immediate next boot.
Now, there is an issue on windows with usersettings.txt being set to read only. This, obviously, is not the issue here; otherwise, my settings would not be saving at all (and they are). My usersettings are also set to give rw perms to both myself and my usergroup (just in case there’s something weird going on with that, but I doubt it) – still happens. Interestingly, usersettings.txt only seems to hold other settings – I can’t find any evidence of the settings that keep getting reset within this file (which is weird to me, because again, the settings DO persist for a little bit!)
According to the research I’ve done, all settings should be in userfiles.txt… but I’m starting to wonder if that’s the case? Maybe there’s some sort of cache? I have no idea; I’m just curious if anyone else has encountered this problem.
I am using wine-ge-8-26, with DXVK enabled. I am not disabling the Lutris runtime, though I am preferring system libraries. I do not enable gamescope (for some reason on Lutris, gamescope never properly fullscreens unless it’s a proton game), and I have feral gamemode enabled. The settings folder is within the prefix’s documents folder – which is a symlink to my Home documents folder (so $HOME/Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live). Everything in that folder, including addons and addon settings, work perfectly. It’s just this specific thing happening.
