games won’t start, via blizzard launcher. they install but after clicking play, the whole thing shuts down and that’s it. any ideas?
Hi,
First, this is a support post - and as posted in the sticky in the support section, information about the Lutris setup is helpful.
- First time running Lutris? Have all the pre-reqs been installed (Vulkan, WINE etc.)
- Is Lutris and drivers up to date?
- Tried a different runner?
Beyond that, please share some log files (run lutris -d for debug, and right click on the battle net tile and “show logs” before running game to look for errors) and if this is the first time using Lutris, just please confirm if anything else runs okay.
part I’ve been using Linux for a year. BigLinux (arch) kernel 6.6, lutris is installed there right away with the system. the launcher itself downloaded and configured by lutris, where I play world from World of Warcraft. Diablo 3, immortal or Warcraft 3 reforged work without a problem on the same configuration. Unfortunately Warcraft 1 and 2 as for the refreshed parts do not start the premiere was not long ago, maybe it’s because of that?
I just bought Warcraft Remastered pack, I will work on it.
great let me know how you manage to play, unless it’s a problem for me. I use karnel 66 and there is 610 available
Warcraft 2 remastered (I had no interest in the others) just works for me out of the battle net prefix. Launch battle net, click WC2, click play. Tested with Proton 9 or wine-ge-8-26 - prefer Proton for better Diablo performance.
I am running Lutris git which has recently jumped to 5.18, but I doubt that is the issue.
it starts for me but immediately crashes. what system are you using?
Mint 22, cinnamon and wayland, i386 arch enabled, Mesa drivers (for AMD 7900 XT) and Vulkan from standard repo, wine-staging from WineHQ. All other pre-reqs for Lutris from standard packages.
Lutris and UMU from Git.
mint works on kernel 6.8 if I’m not mistaken. maybe I’ll try to install big Linux with 6.10 first because I’m using 6.6
I just installed Battle.net from official Lutris script installer:
Battle.net - Lutris
Then install Warcraft remastered 1,2,3
All this game launched correctly, on two different computer, I can not reproduce your issue.
Could it be the kernel’s fault?
A difference between 6.6 and 6.8? Possible, but unlikely. If it is the kernel, then it will be interaction with drivers and firmware more than anything else.
I take it there’s nothing in “show logs?” You haven’t shared hardware or driver information yet either - e.g. there there are issues with Nvidia 560, so people are sticking with 550, or trying the 565 beta which is looking better.
When I get issues with both WINE and Proton runners, first thing I do is turn off is ESYNC and FSYNC. You’d be surprised how many random issues that seems to fix - I noticed Warcraft II couldn’t tell what my refresh rate was in options.
When have to I debug from scratch, I abandon all platforms, and install the software manually into a clean WINE prefix (WineHQ/wine-staging, no mono) to see what happens. Use winetricks to add in components as necessary, then add runners back into the mix.
