Uplay not installing

Ok, so a pretty simple problem I should think
Uplay isn’t installing correctly.

It’s wine related (I think) which I thought lutris took care of (mostly).

In the GUI I can reach the end of the installation process with an error:

Which I presume is caused by the wineboot error in this output during the install process causing uplayinstaller to never run.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i have this problem … if i download the uplay .exe from their site and i installed thru lutris i get only a white square. i resolved by installing the division lutris and changing the runner whit uplay.exe.

So I just ended up installing uplay without lutris,
For your problem with uplay showing a white box install wine corefonts.

winetricks corefonts

and then uplay will launch properly.

I have the same problem, but I can neither find a package called “wine corefonts” nor “winetricks corefonts” in community repository of manjaro or AUR to fix the problem. Which are the names of packages you did install?

Sorry to revive a necro thread, but I came for the same problem. I thought aza-industries had fixed it, so I wrote down what I did – since I always mess simple things up. I’m using Manjaro, so use your appropriate package manager commands.

  • I cannot install Uplay via Lutris. I get the same “…/Uplay.exe can’t be found” issue.
  • I installed winetricks (sudo pacman -S winetricks).
  • I tried installing Uplay again and got the aformentioned white screen.
  • I googled and found this website (this time I searched for corefronts; searching for winetricks hadn’t helped earlier).
  • Tried running UplayInstaller.exe from command prompt with

winetricks ~/Downloads/UplayInstaller.exe

  • Realised after about 15 minutes of failure, googling, and bad attempts to use more commands that I searched and installed “corefRonts”.
  • Ran

sudo winetricks corefonts

  • Attempted to run again by right-clicking the icon from Thunar (file manager) and still got the “You are using a 64-bit WINEPREFIX. Note that many verbs only install 32-bit versions of packages. If you encounter problems, please retest in a clean 32-bit WINEPREFIX before reporting a bug.
  • Got frustrated and almost started throwing things, but as I have lots of windows open on both screens, I started closing things down to mellow out. And realised Winetricks had one open that was asking what wineprefix I wanted to choose.
  • I chose “install a program”, and was presented with a list of options… which included Uplay down near the bottom.
  • Got the same WINEPREFIX error, clicked OK, installed Uplay.
  • Got the original “Uplay.exe can’t be found” error, but a window opened.
  • The window is just the white box. The “offending” file is upc.exe. Used killall to shut down a whole lotta instances of it.
  • Went to my ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Ubisoft folder, noted the following files of interest:
  1. UbisoftGameLauncher.exe
  2. UbisoftGameLauncher64.exe
  3. upc.exe
  4. Uplay.exe

I’m done, I have no idea what else to do. Nothing actually runs, as I get the white screen with Wine, and the WINEPREFIX error without.
