Unable to install Blizzard Battle.net

Hi

I have a slight annoying problem. An itch that is just unreachable

So I try to install Battle.net bc I an just such a Starcraft fan. And I know it works on Nobara bc I have done it before on 36.

Recently upgrades to 38 and…

Well I’ll let the running lutris -d do the talking.

Looks like there’s a typo in the script that runs, maybe. Seems to be calling “egedit.exe” instead of “regedit.exe”

It seems Whom so ever made the install script made a typo

I looked at the script and am not able to find where this mistake sits.

Please script writer. See my reply and do a fix.

There is post in these forums Return Code 256 BNet, EA App and EGS which has some instructions to get past the arial32.exe font installation,
At the same time, in lutris, you need to ensure that your vulkan ICD loader is set correctly in the preferences->Global Options->Multi-GPU section (enable Advanced at the top of the global options to see this field), in your case it should not say unspecified, but RADV

I honestly truly appreciate any help.
I know that noone forced you and you honestly wanted to help.

It did not work.
I did the whole thing.
You were right. It was undefined.
But it still gave the exact same results.
pointing to. This might have solved another issue down the line. but not the one at hand.
I will not be downvoting anyone as the typo is there.

ie It is not the script. Change the winetricks being used to system by selecting wine in the runners section in the left hand pane of lutris->gear Icon and enable Use system wine tricks

Did you fix up the corefonts per the other link? Make sure you delete all the arial font files in the cache before copying over the new versions from the web.
Is this the install script you are using? Blizzard Battle.net - Lutris
Between attempts, have you confirmed that the folder /home/ferret/Games/battlenet is empty or deleted?
Check this link to confirm you have the 32 bit dependencies installed (don’t copy pasta - trim the command for just the architecture and 32 bit libs - and 32 bit wine if you did not explicitly install that previously)

In case you are interested, this is how you tell the installer to add a font in the script:

As you can see - the name field is the one we are interested in as it is the application that is called. So if there is a “egedit” being called, it is an issue in the winetricks (which is possible as I noted in my other post, the current troubles with installation are caused by a winetricks error with downloading corefonts and sometimes vc run or dotnet files). In your case, it is using the packaged winetricks in the GE runner. It may be older than your system winetricks or installation of that runner could have had an issue. Either way, trying system winetricks gives a good baseline, and if needed you can run winetricks --version to confirm it is the 231202 (IIRC) version which is the latest release.

There is a newer version of winetricks.
I was already using it see my new output command to confirm
The Winetricks website will show that the latest version was used

So I tried something else, I tried to use the Lutris wine latest version 7.2-2

Got not the same result but failed nonetheless

7.2-2 is unlikely to work, but you need to clear out the battlenet folder and try again with 8-21 AFTER a reboot and making sure no other wine application is running.

This can also happen a lot with 7.2-2 where agent.exe or battle.net-setup.exe crash or are not closed properly

Any chance you can hop on the discord server from the link in lutris.net - just had another case the same as this and it appears that the file regedit.exe is not in the syswow64 folder after prefix creation. The way to check is let the installation occur normally until it fails, then in your file manager navigate to the ~/Games/battlenet/drive_c/windows/syswow64 folder

-21 was not available for som reason so went with 8.17 staging and that seemed to work without a hitch
So battlenet installed.
