Hi,
I’m running NCSOFT PURPLE on Linux through Lutris using UMU and GE-Proton. After updating PURPLE to version 2.26.1019.7 , the launcher stopped working.
As soon as I try to start the launcher, a .NET Framework error appears stating that the application could not be started. The launcher crashes before I can use it.
Environment:
- OS: CachyOS Linux
- Desktop environment: KDE Plasma on Wayland
- Launcher: NCSOFT PURPLE 2.26.1019.7
- Launcher executable:
PurpleLauncher.exe - Runner: Lutris with UMU
- Compatibility layer: GE-Proton 11-7
- Wine prefix architecture: 64-bit
- .NET Framework 4.8 is installed and registered in the prefix
What I have tried:
- Verified that .NET Framework 4.8 is registered in the Wine prefix.
- Tried different GE-Proton versions, including 11-10 and 11-11, without success.
- Checked the Lutris/UMU logs for errors.
- Captured Wine exception logs.
The logs show a CLR exception (0xe0434352 ) with exception code 0x8013152C . However, I haven’t been able to identify the exact cause.
The launcher log also contains the following messages:
Proton: Error: unable to use parent for game drive, path /home
WARNING: Error from WM_GETCONTROLTYPE 0
err: DxgiFactory::CreateSwapChainForComposition: Not implemented
I cannot confirm whether these messages are related to the crash.
My question:
Has anyone else experienced this issue with the newer PURPLE launcher on Wine/Proton? Is version 2.26.1019.7 known to have compatibility problems, and is there a workaround or a way to prevent the launcher from automatically updating to this version?
The launcher worked before the update, so I’m trying to determine whether this is a regression in PURPLE or a Wine/Proton compatibility issue.
Thanks for any help.
