I’m installing the game using the standard version script. The installer goes without any errors, however I can notice some differences with previous installs. Last week I did a full re-install of my system (Artix Linux). Last time I installed this game was back in december, and there were no issues during installation or running the game.
This time, after the package extraction and install is over, both the “registration” window and that first prompt menu with Play, Readme and Exit options are closing by themselves. This didn’t happened on the previous install.
I turn off dxvk/vkd3d options, along with fsync and esync, but trying to start the game fails. The only message I’m getting from the log is this:
lutris-wrapper: The Sims
Started initial process 7098 from /usr/bin/wine /home/nicogarcia95/Lutris/sims8en1/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Maxis/The Sims/Sims.exe -r1024x768 -skip_intro
Start monitoring process.
Monitored process exited.
Initial process has exited (return code: 256)
Exit with return code 256
Wine version is 8.11, and I’m using a Lenovo Thinkpad T520. Some extra info:
- OS: Artix Linux x86_64
- Kernel: 6.3.6-artix1-1
- CPU: Intel i5-2520M (4) @ 3.200GHz
- GPU: Intel 2nd Generation Core Processor Family
- Memory: 15884MiB
Despite being a bit old, I’m able to play Portal 2 and TF2 through steam in this laptop, tweaking the graphics of course, but without problems or even lag while playing online, so running The Sims 1 should not really be an issue.
