I have a pre-installed version of Fallout 4 which is not installed by lutris, and I believe it’s originally has been installed on a Windows system.
After extracting, alongside with the main game folder there is a Common Redist folder including these files:
xnafx40_redist.msi
vcredist_2015-2019_x64.exe
vcredist_2015-2019_x86.exe
dxwebsetup.exe
oalinst.exe
vcredist_x64.exe
vcredist_x86.exe
I clicked the plus button and and chose Add locally installed game, set the Wine prefix and working directory to the main folder for the game, and set the Executable option to Fallout4Launcher.exe which is directly under the main folder.
Then opened Winetricks and chose “run arbitrary…” for each of the Common Redist files which installed them without problem.
Now the launcher runs but after clicking the play in the launcher, nothing happens for like three seconds and then the Play button at the bottom which had been changed to Stop, changes back to Play.
I’m on Kubuntu 24.10, so kde, on wayland, have installed the flatpak package of lutris, and have no problem installing and playing GOG games with it.
