Stellar Tactics runs briefly then exits

As the subject says.

I understand the game to be openGL, which I know is hit or miss with NVidia drivers (I have the proprietary drivers, if it doesn’t show on your reports).

As far as I know I have all the requisite 32 and 64 bit openGL drivers installed on my system. glxgears runs fine, and looking through all my openGL-related packages I don’t see any missing an i386 entry.

I have tried all the runners I can think of, from Proton 3.0 to wine-ge-8 to system (9.0 Ubuntu) to GE-Proton Latest, and none of them work (although the debug output sometimes looks different depending on the runner).

Have also tried this with my “everything but the kitchen sink” prefix, and a clean prefix, same result. Tried with and without Lutris libraries, prioritizing system libs or not, everything I could tweak I think I tweaked. Nothing worked.

On a whim I fired up Heroic, which I had actually never used before, hooked up my GOG account, installed Stellar Tactics, set the runner to GE-Proton Latest, and BAM – runs just fine.

So I know it can run on my system, but I am at loss to find out what Heroic is doing that Lutris isn’t.

Any suggestions anyone has would be very much appreciated.
