Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt - Game of the Year edition stopped working. It was working fine for quite a time. Then stopped suddenly today. It just does not start up. Black wine screen with Witcher icon appears and disappears immediately after start. BTW, it’s the GOG distro. Logs show a message about missing library D3DCOMPILER_47.dll. I tried to install that via winetricks but it didn’t change anything. Please, can you help me?

Another system upgrade solved the problem.
The game was working fine until today. It stopped working having the same issue. I even did not do any upgrade. Just turned it off yesterday and it is not working anymore. Any hint where to look? Thx.
If the problem is the " missing library D3DCOMPILER_47.dll." as you say, you can try to run Winetricks d3dcompiler_43 and see if that fixes it.

Thanks for a hint. I installed it but how do I make the game to use it? It is still complaining about D3DCOMPILER_47.
Strange thing is that the issue fixed itself a few weeks ago and also appeared again today without obvious reason.
BTW, can a lutris runner update break the game like this? I noticed that it checks for updates automatically on each startup.
click on the game, then click on the “bottle” icon in the lower menu that should pop up, and then click on winetricks in the drop up menu
Yes, I did that. But I guess this just installs a DLL. I am not sure whether this is enough to make it used. It had no effect.
you can try to open terminal and WINEPREFIX=/“link to Witcher wine folder” winetricks d3dcompiler_43
you can also try to install DVXK if its not installed
if you use debian then this the way to do it if not idk how to do it.
I installed dvxk-bin on my Arch. It did not anything at first, so I did the restart and the game started working again. Thanks a lot for help.
