So a really strange thing happened. Last night I downloaded Witcher 3 again and played for a bit with all the new bells and whistles. RT all turned up to the max, looked great. Then today, I boot up the game…and all that stuff is gone. I have no RT or DLSS options. Frame generation is all greyed out. What the hell happened? I changed NOTHING on my system. Just went to bed and got up the next day and the game is different.
OK so I figured it out. The first time I played I had to sign in and go through the GOG launcher and I selected DX 12. But on subsequent boots, Lutris just went straight into the game. Problem is, Lutris defaults to the wrong .exe. I just redirected it to launch the exe inside the DX12 game folder instead. It seems frame gen is still greyed out but maybe that’s a runner thing???
My complete edition installer default targets the CD project red launcher, and defaults to DX12 version selected.
The same options persist every launch. I only have RT based on the 7900XT’s capabilities and FSR2 rather than DLSS, but it works fine, even switching runner to Proton.
Edit: Also a fresh download and install - been a while since I played, no online connection.
