[Solved] Settings for (GOG) Imperialsm 2

Hello,

I am new to Lutris. Managed to install Imperialism 2 from GOG, but it is not yet playable.

When playing and I open an ingame window, there will be only the right side about 50% displayed. Also there are glitches on the map.

It also started very small but I got it to full size activating dgvoodoo2. I have randomly changed settings but have no clue what they all mean.

I am using a Thinkpad x1 carbon with integrated intel hd620 graphics card.

After installing some more games from the Gog Library I had them all running.
So far only Imperialism makes trouble.

I checked settings from running games, but that did not help with Imperialism 2.

Hi,

This game had terrible screen resolution issues, even on Windows.

Try the “DPI scaling” in runner options tab. If that doesn’t work, your best bet is probably to get gamescope running and run it in a scaled Window.

Maybe an older or newer runner will deal with it better.

Hello, could you post the Lutris game page url, I will take a look.

“DPI scaling” worked… The windows are visible now. Just it is tiny again. But I that I had before and my get right myself.

Or rather not…

Now I tried to install gamescope on kubuntu, but that goes way over the scope of my understanding of linux.

There are depreciated packaged in the code that should be used to install. I can copy and paste some code into the terminal, but not convert it to ubuntu.

For the moment, the only solution I found to play this game fullscreen is to use Gamescope:
game resolution: 800x600
ouput resolution: your native desktop resolution

Thanks for your help.
Any idea, how to install gamescope on Kubuntu 24.10?

You need to install and use Lutris Flatpak:

https://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/flatpak

Then, once you installed and configured Flatpak on Kubuntu, in a terminal type this commands:

flatpak install net.lutris.Lutris
flatpak install org.freedesktop.Platform.VulkanLayer.gamescope
flatpak install flathub org.freedesktop.Platform.VulkanLayer.MangoHud

each time choose 23.08 branch

Thanks a lot!
Should I remove lutris (non flatpak) before installing the flatpak version? Or can they coexist?

They can coexist, but I advice you to keep only Flatpak version on Kubuntu, like this you will always have the more recent version installed.

Great it installed and started. But now I have a question:
How do I make a start script for:
flatpak run net.lutris.Lutris

and it there a way to copy over all the settings for the installed games from the one Lutris to the flatpak one?

How do I make a start script for: flatpak run net.lutris.Lutris

You should already have one in your main menu?

it there a way to copy over all the settings for the installed games from the one Lutris to the flatpak one?

You should start a new config, it’s more easy/safe/

Great, it is running as it should!
Thanks for all that helped!

I have tried to copy setting over but it seems to be better to make a clear cut and start over with the flatpak version!

I am really amazed how many games now run without problems on Linux. I just recently switched one of my PCs from windows 7 where I needed a few programs where the newer version don t run anymore on W7.

And with such help, it is a good experience.
