[Solved] GOG:Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl fails to install

Hi all, Installing Stallker:SoC fails, can’t seem to figure out what’s going on. Other Stalker series work great.

I’ve tried installing it a few times, when It does install, it doesn’t start, showing a warning saying it can’t find the exe (sorry, this is rare and I didn’t write down the error message verbatim).

I’ve tried the alternative:

A simple script to install S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl via an Wine-AppImage (no wine required).
github{dot}com/linux-ott/stalker-appimage
{only 2 link allowed}

Which works at least, but savegame doesn’t work.

There is an unsupported installer:

  • WINE GOG{dot}com version last published 4 months, 2 weeks ago

This installer is a draft. It hasn’t been reviewed and might not be finished.

But I don’t know how to get chrome / firefox / lutris(desktop) to open it correctly. What am I missing?

Output from:
>$ lutris --submit-issue
https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/sQKKz42ywP/

Output from:
>$ lutris -d
https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/5grVz4cy8Y/

Thanks in advance.

The Lutris install script is using args on the gog installer (a pet hate of mine), remove this line " args: /LANG=en /SP- /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /SILENT" , save draft and run, this might give you some information why the install is failing.

Thanks for the suggestion. How do I edit and then run the installer? There’s no option for that in the desktop program.

So, download, edit and run it in cli?
>$ lutris ./installer.script

Ok,Currently trying

>$ lutris -i ./stalker-shadow-of-chernobyl-gog.json
With edited json as you suggested.

Everything seems to be working as expected so far. DXSETUP has actually run this time and the game took a while to install and plays well. Savegame and display configs are saved correctly. How do I mark as solved? Thank you for that, I would never have guessed.

It seems like an oversight with the installer script. Who can I ask to edit the script appropriately?
