Can you please please help me install(and hopefully run) AC Rogue?
I have 2 installers I’ve been trying, none of them work. The first one gets to a point with some weird flickering and I can’t progress further(I’ve made a video so you can see this clearly in action) and the second one just gives me a “cannot import isskin.dll” error first thing after I run it.
Here are all the necessary files, let me know if you need anything else.
You’ve got a vulkan error at the top of Lutris’s output - given it’s the main way the WINE wrapper maps directX to native graphics (via DXVK included in the runner) I’d look at that first.
Have you got the vulkan drivers installed (mesa-vulkan-drivers)? Make sure you don’t install AMD’s own drivers either (unless you really really need the compute tools,) and just stick with the Mesa from your distro.
Sorry, I don’t run EndeavourOS, so the packages are different for me. A quick google says you need vulkan-radeon but you should check some of the threads on EndeavourOS forums.
Edit: Can you please also indicate which Lutris installer you are trying for Rogue?
The second one which is the Ubisoft connect, or something else?
Ok, thank you, I will check in on the EndeavourOS forums and see which version I need to install and after I’ve done that will post here to update if it fixed my issue or not.
Ok, well the people over on the EndeavourOS forum helped and I installed the versions I needed which where the mesa ones I guess…
But nothing has changed to my eyes at least, same behavior, same errors.
Anyway here are the new terminal outputs. Can you spot any differences?
As far as the installers I’m using the first one(the one with the clipping from the video) is from the Assassins.Creed.Rogue-CODEX release. And the second one with the isskin.dll error is from the Assassins.Creed.Rogue.v1.1.0.REPACK-KaOs release. Is this what you meant?
Well the Vulkan error has gone, so Lutris confirms you have Vulkan support, and that’s a good thing However you’ve got this: - ERROR 2024-08-09 21:16:06,532 [game_finder.find_windows_game_executable:98]:Couldn't find a Windows executable in <your user>/Games/assassins-creed-rogue
…which means the configuration is wrong or broken.
What I meant by installer, is which installer are you using from the Lutris website?
…the installers you’ve stated look a bit pirate-y, and I’m afraid I can’t support those.
I have no idea, whatever Lutris uses by default as I didn’t even know those existed, let alone how to switch them. Should I try to give each of them a try and if so how exactly do I apply them, is there a guide somewhere?
Cmon, seriously, are we gonna sit here and pretend people don’t use Lutris to play pirated games??!
Also can you please tell me how to get those extra options below “View on Lutris.net” that the person in this youtube video has so I can maybe try to play with winetricks and stuff see if that fixes things?
Note that pirated games contain malware which even though are windows malware will run in wine without issues and that’s how Linux gets compromised with windows malware.
Some hackers write their malware to detect environment in which they run, and can then execute Linux specific code.
Maybe it happens, can’t say for sure, I’m not omnipotent plus I don’t know where people get their stuff from.
But what I can say is that in 20+ years of using pirates software I have never had any of the issues one would expect from malware, no accounts hacked, no bank accounts emptied, no identity stolen(as far as I can tell), etc.
Oh, and one more thing I can 100% guarantee is that if anything does happen, I will NOT be blaming you! Just help me get the darn things running please…
So I guess the only remaining question now is where do your loyalties lie, with fortune 500 companies or a fellow gamer?
Because you don’t use credit cards online and because you don’t have steam account worth thousands of dollars.
But regardless such systems are used by hackers for DDoS attacks or as a backdoor to spread theri network or for crypto mining, all of which users don’t notice it’s happening with their computers.
I could help you to run original games (not cracked) without having to deal with pirates and without having to pay a single cent for game but I’m afraid I would break forum rules.
With gamers ofc. because I’m gamer, I have some 100 games all of which cost money but are here for free
If you push hard enough you’ll figure out how to, in any case I don’t want to troubleshoot cracked code nor support hackers spread their network.
Any chance you could just private message me and tell me more about this please? That way you wouldn’t have to worry about breaking any rules…
LE: On second thought no thanks, please don’t messsage me. Even if your method did work it still wouldn’t fix some of the issues that cracked software does.
Like me actually owning said software and not having to worry if one day the paid version will simply dissapear/be taken down from whatever platform it was on.
Or having to use crappy DRM, me personally for example I won’t play a game that has denuvo even if you payed me 60$ to, instead of me paying you/them.
On a more positive note I have good news I finally managed to get one version of AC Rogue to run!! If anyone stumbles upon this post years from now and needs some help just message me(that way we won’t be breaking any rules) and I’ll do my best to help.
