Path of exile busted again

I updated it a couple of days ago and all was well.

However the new league patch has broken it.

Getting an exception on launch.

vk:: createInstanceUnique ErrorExtensionNotPresent

Any ideas ?
Anybody trying to play PoE on Lutris ?

Just updated to Settlers of Kalguur, and it seems fine running on Wine-GE-Proton8-26. Haven’t played long, yet.

People running under steam can force it to run under dx12 and then it works.

You may have already had it configured that way.

I can’t seem to figure out how to force DX12.

Mine’s set to Vulkan and it works great, with the command-line arguments that the Lutris installer set up and without.

Does anything appear on the screen at all?

Turns out you can force it in the config file with

renderer_type=DirectX12

it seems to be working for a lot of people, but not me :frowning:

the only thing that appears is a dialog box with that error message and that’s it.

yes with steam you can force DX12 in the config file.
I’m not using steam.

. . . which I find in

drive_c/users/${USER}/Documents/My Games/Path of Exile/production_Config.ini

hanging off wherever you installed POE.

aha, I did find that .ini file.

Strange , I tried looking for it before and didn’t find it. Must not have looked in the right place.

I made the change and still no luck, a get a black screen (no error box) and then it quits.

That’s too bad because most people have reported it working once they change the renderer to DX12.

I’ll have to turn on debugging and see what I can figure out.

Thank you!

You can also set it to something that doesn’t exist (my first try was DX12, which isn’t right) and see what it thinks should be the default; it picked DirectX11 for me.

All three work here, fwiw.

Success with DirectX11.

I did what you suggested and didn’t set it and it picked DirectX11.

The gamma is screwed up, but it’s displaying properly.

Probably won’t be usable but at least I can get into it now and possibly try some things.

Thank you !

update: interesting. I enabled DXVK and VKD3D and that fixed the gamma problems. It also runs much better than it did.

I still have D3D extras and DXVK-NVAPI disabled.

update.

updated linux mint to 22

updated kisak-mesa packages and wine-hq staging.

PoE now running again under vulkan

here’s the mesa-vulkan driver, I don’t even think it’s the latest and greatest but seems to work well.
