Mouse control constrained

Ok so this is a weird one.

I’m using lutris-git from cachyos aur, currently version “cachyos/lutris-git 0.5.18.r64.g7d116ee-1” but the issue had surfaced on a former manjaro installation as well.

I’ve recently upgraded some hardware and peripherals, and am currently using a ducky tinker 75 keyboard and a Razer Deathadder v3 mouse, unsure if it might be related, as I’ve reverted to the old mouse+keyboard and the issue still occurs.

Initially I thought this might have to do specifically with Cyberpunk 2077 but I’ve also installed Red Dead Redemption 2 and it also happens.

Basically the mouse control is severely constrained, I can only move it so much and then it’s as if it reaches horizontal limits, when theoretically it should be continuous, letting me move around “infinitely” the whole 360º.

In Cyberpunk under controller setting it shows that I’m using an xbox controller, when in reality all I have is a keyboard and a mouse.

RDR2 won’t show info about xbox controllers but behaves the same way.

The keyboard seems to work fine though.

If I connect a PS5 Dualsense controller it gets properly detected and works fine in both games. Thing is I’d like to be able to just use the keyboard and the mouse instead.

I’m using the “proton-cachyos” runner which I believe calls umu-launcher, as per these instructions , under the " How can i setup umu-launcher with proton-cachyos in Lutris?" section. The games are windows (wine) installs, no steam or other launchers involved.

Lutris -d log available here: Ubuntu Pastebin

Please let me know what kind of other logs, screenshots, videos you’d like me to provide to help with addressing this.

Thanks a lot everyone.

Managed to solve this for RDR2 by selecting the “Windows Mouse” in-game mouse controller setting.

This was after finding someone’s report from 2018 about this kind of issue on the linux_gaming reddit, mentioning mouse polling rates etc.

I also disabled a bunch of redundant devices from the KDE “Mouse” options, as the keyboard showed 3 different ones and the mouse showed 2.

Still can’t figure out how to fix this in Cyberpunk 2077 2.2 . The hex editor fix mentioned in the steam forums for previous versions (https://steamcommunity.com/app/1091500/discussions/7/3878218563598783920/) doesn’t seem to work.

I might do a video to better illustrate the behaviour.

PS: This had previously worked fine a few months back during my last playthrough in Manjaro. Peripherals weren’t the same, and game, wine and lutris versions were older too.

Boiled down to Gamescope’s “Relative Mouse Mode” option, which I had to enable in lutris:

Hope it helps.
