Mass Effect: Andromeda post-Origin

Hi, I’m aware things are difficult with EA Games in Lutris, but I was able to get the remastered trilogy (Legendary Edition) working fine; it’s Andromeda I’m having trouble with, partly due to having to create the Lutris object from scratch as the game’s page here still points to an old script from the Origin days.

I can say the game itself starts fine, and it’s graphics where I’m having trouble – specifically resolution and window size, which so far has been a nightmare. I have a 2560×1440 monitor, and Linux Mint Cinnamon set to 150% (fractional display, which I’m aware is experimental as games seem to think it’s 3424×1926), and my graphical choices seem to be:

  • Fullscreen: completely black screen except for mouse cursor
  • Windowed: the game says the window is 1280×720, but the window itself is blown up to twice the size (but showing the stated lousy resolution), as though zoomed; this resolution changes if I maximise the window
  • Borderless window: the top-left quarter of the window filling the entire screen!

This is in addition to the EA App popup appearing in massive size (which happened with the 2nd and 3rd games in the trilogy).

I’m using an Intel i9-11900K CPU with a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and Linux Mint 22.3 Cinnamon (kernel 7), and I’ve set up the game in Lutris to run under Wine with Proton Experimental, running MassEffectAndromeda.exe (also tried MassEffectAndromedaTrial.exe as an online suggestion).
