Lutris doesn't see GOG game (Windows) installers?

Today I purchased Clair Obscura and Caves of Qud on GOG’s Summer sale. Thing was when I came to install Clair Obscura with Lutrtis, nothing happened. No window asking me what version of the game to install. However, Caves of Qud did install, though I did notice that it only gave me the option to download the Linux version of the game, and no option to download the Windows version.

I then noticed that I couldn’t download any other game unless said game had a Linux version with it. Though some titles did give me the option to download the Windows version if wanted, but not always. But all the Windows only games would do nothing, until I noticed this in the logs…

[ERROR:2026-06-26 16:45:00,212:base]: **No installer found for {'id': 1568, 'service': 'gog', 'appid': '2125022825', 'name': 'Clair Obscur: Expedition 33'**, 'slug': 'clair_obscur_expedition_33', 'icon': None, 'logo': None, 'url': None, 'details': '{"id": 2125022825, "availability": {"isAvailable": true, "isAvailableInAccount": true}, "title": "Clair Obscur: Expedition 33", "image": "//images-2.gog-statics.com/97cfe203f2a8634c11547489941151295e898f51dac32d8a598c5cc86997c0e3", "url": "/en/game/clair_obscur_expedition_33", **"worksOn": {"Windows": false, "Mac": false, "Linux": false},** "category": "Role-playing", "rating": 4, "isComingSoon": false, "isMovie": false, "isGame": true, "slug": "clair_obscur_expedition_33", "updates": 0, "isNew": true, "dlcCount": 0, "releaseDate": {"date": "2025-04-24 00:00:00.000000", "timezone_type": 1, "timezone": "+03:00"}, "isBaseProductMissing": false, "isHidingDisabled": false, "isInDevelopment": false, "extraInfo": [], "isGalaxyCompatible": true, "tags": [], "isHidden": false}', 'lutris_slug': 'clair-obscur-expedition-33'}

What I can gather here is that it’s flagging everything as false, sure there’s no Linux or Mac version of Clair Obscura, but no Windows version? Surely there’s a Windows installer seeing as I can see it on GOG’s site, though it’s one of those annoying multi file installers as the game is pretty big and I’ll be honest and say I don’t want to bother doing this the old school way. But way can’t Lutris see the Windows executable installer when it is there under my licence for the game?

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lutris a few times and I get the same message in the log. Can anyone help me with this?

I did the crazy thing and just reinstalled Bazzite to see if that could fix anything.

And well, it did nothing, I still get the same message in the log like the one above. I get the impression that there’s some weird connection issue with GOG even though I can actually log in with my account. I even did the whole “Log off all other devices” thing in my GOG account, but that too didn’t solve the problem.

Now I only have access to a hand few of titles through Lutris on my GOG account. This is very annoying!

Now I’ve gone as far to install a totally different Linux Distro, Debian, rather than Bazzite, to see if maybe there was something funny with the baked-in version of Lutris in Bazzite, and I’m getting the same damn message in the logs!

At this point there’s something in my GOG account that’s stopping me from installing certain GOG games through Lutris. This is getting very frustrating because I want to play Clair Obscura, and now I might have to go as far as to download all those damn multiple install files and do it all manually when I’ve never needed to do that before with GOG games.

Interesting…

I got a reply from someone on GOG’s Forum, I simply posted the same thing on their forum and somebody pointed out the same " "worksOn": {"Windows": false, "Mac": false, "Linux": false}, " issue as it appears to plague GOG Galaxy users too. So this may very well be a classic “GOG broke something” situation, rather than this being a problem with Lutris itself. I’ve kinda proved that by trying many different ways to solve this problem to get the same error in the logs, meaning that it has to be a connection issue between Lutris and GOG, and it appears to be a problem between GOG Galaxy and GOG too.

Let’s hope this improves in the next few days!

I’d like to chime in on a few things I’ve noticed, along these same lines and a potential correlation to the lgogdownloader tool also not wanting to download anything connected to GOG’s side.

I’m a frequent buyer of games on GOG, so I’ve got a relatively large list of games to choose from. Now, here’s where the first wrench comes in. I can still download, and seem to have access to certain games through GOG’s servers, most of what I’ve tried. Not all work though. I’m not sure it would be worth my time making a list of the games that do allow a download windows appear through Lutris compared to the ones that don’t. This is just a potential coloration as to the OP’s findings. I’d run a debug version of Lurtis and see what’s going on behind the scenes, but I get some generic error about not having a google folder and stopping the debug data all together. The joys of software. Anyway, I guess this was a long winded way of saying, yes, I’m observing this behavior as well. Until then, I’ll just happily download whatever game installer to use from GOG, install it through WINE and point Lutris to that location. I hope this gets resolved eventually. I have a feeling it will.

I’m having the same problem. A lot of games in my library doesnt seem to want to install, no installer starts when pressing “Install”, running Lutris with -d parameter shows that no installer could be found for the game, but when using the “View on lutris.net” will show atleast the “GOG(AUTO) version”. Pressing “Install” for the “GOG(AUTO) verison” on lutris.net doesnt do anything either.

A small list of games that where no installer starts when selecting “Install”: 9 Years of Shadows, 60 minutes to Extinction: Escape Room, 88 Heroes, 1942: The Pacific Air War 2064: Read Only Memories, A Golden Wake, A Plague Tale: Innocence, A.D.2044, Adventures of Robbo, Afterlife, Agarest: Generations of War 2, Agarest: Generations of War Zero, AI War: Fleet Commander, Akalabeth: World of Doom, Alien Breed 2: Assault, Alien Breed 3: Descent, Alien Breed: Impact, Alien Breed: Tower Assault (Game), Alien Rampage, Alpha Protocol, Ambition: A Minuet in Power, America Rising 2 - Legacy of the Enclave, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Ancient Enemy,Ankh - Anniversary Edition, Annals of Rome, Anodyne, Apache Longbow, Aphotheon, Aquanox 2: Revelation, Aquanox Deep Descent, Arcade Paradise, Ascension to the Throne, Ashes 2063, Ashworld, Assassins Creed Directors Cut.

And there are many, many more games where no installer starts. I started from the top of my non-installed games and went down. There was a bunch of games (not in that list) where a installer was found, like “A New Beginning: Final Cut”, which has a install script that isnt Auto.

@MrGrumpyMonkey @losetech I’m keeping tabs on this thread here: The "what did just break" thread 2.0, page 267 - Forum - GOG.com , where someone at GOG is aware of the problem, though right now it’s night time in Poland and the problem still persists, so when they said they’ll be trying to fix it, I guess them fixing it won’t be a day to achieve. I’m just an impatient son of a bitch, lmao!

Any day now, right? lol!

Thats nice to hear, I’m using a python-script called gogrepoc.py to keep my offline installers uptodate and that hasnt had a problem downloading things from gog. Might be using a method that lgogdownloader and lutris doesnt use.

I might have to get gogrepoc.py, I’ve had to manually install all of the multiple installer files to get Clair Obcur and manually place it into Lutris. Though I didn’t use the right version of Proton at first, causing the videos/FMVs to not play properly, thankfully Proton-CachyOs-11 works a treat on Clair Obscur.

I just wish I didn’t have to run round circles to achieve it when Lutris is meant to make things simple. But alas, this isn’t the fault of the people who made Lutris, this is GOG putting meta-data where games are labelled as “Not compatible with anything”, Lutris and GOG Galaxy see that and can’t do anything with it.

I just have to play the patient game, when I’m an impatient man! lol!

exactly the same on Linux Mint 22.3 for me

will be fixed in next Lutris version

But isn’t all this a problem with GOG though? There’s a thread about it on their forums where Lutris and GOG Galaxy users can’t download all their games with an external launcher, such as Galaxy and Lutris. It turns out that GOG messed with the data on their games that GOG Galaxy and Lutris use where games are flagged up as “Not for Windows, not for Apple, not for Linux” that causes launchers to straight up ignore the install because it thinks there’s nothing to install as there’s no system that it’s compatible with.

Man… This is taking GOG a while to fix. I guess I’m going to have to get that gogrepoc.py to download my whole GOG collection to then do the installers manually through Lutris and Wine-ge.

Impatient man is impatient, lol!

HOLY CRAP! It finally works!

For all Lutris users with GOG accounts: Log out of you GOG account and log back in again, now you will not see the dreaded "worksOn": {"Windows": false, "Mac": false, "Linux": false}, in the logs anymore and you’ll see the installer options!

Man that was a long-ass week! lol!

I can confirm this seems to be resolved. Thank you SepticLemon for bringing this to light.
