I’m using Nobara Linux 41 Gnome edition and when I log into Wayland I can launch Battle.net and I can launch WoW with out issue. However, when I select a toon and move my cursor over the Enter World button, the cursor changes from the default WoW mailed clove icon to a black arrow and when I press the Enter World button, what ever window was active before WoW launched, it brings it to the front, there fore I am unable to Enter World. This has only been a recent issue, say in the last 2 weeks, before that everything worked fine under Wayland. This does not happen under Gnome X11 session. I’ve tried changing the runner to Wine-ge-8-26, Wine Staging 10.2 and even GloriusEggroll’s Protons. Is this a Lutris issue or a Wayland issue?
I’m seeing this exact issue on Manjaro Gnome.
It only started occurring after a recent update to WoW so I’m pretty certain they’ve changed something in a way that breaks this.
My fix was to enable Gamescope in the Battlenet runner section. It’s not perfect (sometimes the mouse suddenly flips out and the camera will spin off - very frustrating) but at least I can play. I think you can also configure the game to start windowed in battlenet and then fullscreen it once you’re in.
EDIT.
Found this on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Lutris/comments/1hd93ne/comment/m2ax88i/ . It solves the problem perfectly.
@mrwonka thanks for sharing that fix. The gamescope option worked kinda, but was alot of fiddling settings. Thank you!
Hi,
I confirm that i have the same issue. There is another ‘workaround’.
You need to edit the ‘Config.WTF’ file.
/home/henrik/Games/battlenet/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/World of Warcraft/retail/WTF/Config.wtf
You need to change following variable to 0 ( window mode ) before you start the game. Once your in the game you can switch to fullscreen again. Sadly this need to be repeated everytime you quit the game in fullscreen again.
SET GxMaximize “0”
I confirm that this is a Wayland problem and i hope the dev team will address this.
