How to install FFXIV?

What is the proper way to install FFXIV with DX11 DXVK? I tried using the Lutris installer but when it attempts to launch the launcher immediately after installing, it crashes to desktop silently no errors or anything.

I have FFXIV working on DX9 in another prefix but rumor has it Square is ending support for 32-bit/DX9 w/ the next expansion.

First, it’s still not fixed. The main error appears that vulcan1 has functions it thinks should exist but do not.

Unhandled exception: unimplemented function vulkan-1.dll.vkGetInstanceProcAddr called in 32-bit code (0x7bc7d999).

Reading further, it appears Lutris does not install Vulkan properly. The problem is I am unable to find " lib32-vulkan-icd-loader " anywhere. I tried adding some PPAs manually but had no luck as it appears that the “oibaf” repository has had these packages removed.

My GPU is a nVidia GeForce GTX 960 for what it’s worth.

But, why is it requiring 32 bit code when I specifically set this up in a 64 bit architecture? I mean the whole reason I am wanting to use Vulkan / DX11 is to GET AWAY from 32 bit!!! lol

Apparently there is a bug where WINE 3.14 does not include the necessary hooks for Vulkan to work properly by some error of the developers. Wondering if 3.16 has the same issue? 3.5 supposedly fixes this - but Lutris by default installs a esync version that has WINE 3.16 and maybe this is the problem?

Look at your wine version. It says 3.3

This is the installer you should be using:

It uses this wine runner: esync-staging-pba-ffxiv-3.16-x86_64
further, the vulkan issues you are running into are -not- lutris related. you need to figure out on your own how to install the vulkan loader for your distro.

that installer works perfectly fine right out of the box, given you have the rest of your system configured correctly. Lutris is -not- a fix-all for missing dependencies.

Afaik on ubuntu this should do it for vulkan:

sudo apt install libvulkan1 libvulkan1:i386

Oddly enough libvulkan1:i386 is what I was missing

The game now works but when I try to run full screen 1080p it looks like a screen in a screen freeze frame of the desktop, not the game. It works fine in windowed mode.

That’s just what it reports. TKG fixed that in his newer builds.
