Hearthstone crashes after ~10 sec of completely normal gameplay, pop!os

after entering main game, after 10 seconds of completely normal gameplay (opening packs, starting a match etc), then it crashes blank without any error message i can locate. (wine log & lutris log both completely normal. )

wine log completely normal (no new log) at crash. only clue is ‘compiling shaders’ at bottom left corner before crashing but i guess that’s intended.

system is pop!os 22.04, running lutris battlenet installer then Hearthstone.

Tried (didn’t work):
disabling locationapi.dll
disabling fsync/esync
proton 9.0 → default wine

this issue is recurring (https://www.reddit.com/r/pop_os/comments/16ys4cn/cannot_play_hearthstone/).

feels like something overflowed but i just can’t find any log to pin it down … (advice on collecting relevant logs also really welcome)

not 100% sure but probably not hardware issue

cpu ~80% all cores, ram ample

Maybe try other runners - Is there a reason you switched away from the default wine-ge-8-26? If you are also using Steam+ULWGL, Proton - Experimental tends to work for me a lot more regularly than 9.0

I have not played anything on Battle net since Diablo 3, but that still works without issues, and playing 20+ mins of Hearthstone tutorial levels works fine using the wine-ge-8-26 runner.

Last thing is that the reddit link has people running it through bottles, which is also going to be pulling a WINE runner - see if you can track down what WINE that is using?

Same issue on wine-ge-8-26, I’m using archlinux + nvidia + flatpak.

I can not reproduce your issue with wine-ge-8-26 (AMD GPU)
First reinstall Batlle.Net from official Lutris script installer

I guess it may be an issue of nvidia, according to the logs pasted above.

Today it is stable and easier to use an AMD GPU card on Linux.

Try another Wine version like GE-Proton or change DXVK version.
