Fallout 4 refuses to remember steam credentials

I have a few 32bit and some 64bit games installed on wine steam and they work perfectly
but Fallout 4, when I exit the game and come back to it, Steam has forgotten my login details.
while the other games steam games login as normal.

not a huge issue but a minor irritant.
(yes I have “Save password” checked)
any ideas why or how to go about fixing this?
No idea what logs / if they exist to include

update

I’ve created my own wine and prefix outside of lutris and it works perfectly so I imported it using the “custom wine” option.
still can’t get the installer version to recall settings of either steam or FO4.
