ESO hangs at loader screen

ESO worked flawlessly until mid Feb2021. Now after launching Play in Lutris, ESO loader screen hangs.
Followed procedure on Lutris forum to manually install SSL certs (can’t link due to new user forum limits - sorry)

But failed to resolve the issue. Welcome any thoughts.

seems to be a cryptage issue, did you install certificats? Read the technical notes.

Hi Legluondunet, yes that was an obvious thing I checked. I re-installed the SSL certs per this post

On my system the the ssl certs are symlinked from
/etc/ssl/certs/
thawte_Primary_Root_CA.pem
thawte_Primary_Root_CA-G2_ECC.pem
thawte_Primary_Root_CA-G3_SHA256.pem
thawte_Primary_Root_CA-G4_DSA.pem

To…

[redacted]:~$ readlink -f /etc/ssl/certs/thawte_Primary_Root_CA.pem
/usr/local/share/ca-certificates/thawte_Primary_Root_CA.crt
[redacted]:~$ readlink -f /etc/ssl/certs/thawte_Primary_Root_CA-G2_ECC.pem
/usr/local/share/ca-certificates/thawte_Primary_Root_CA-G2_ECC.crt
[redacted]:~$ readlink -f /etc/ssl/certs/thawte_Primary_Root_CA-G3_SHA256.pem
/usr/local/share/ca-certificates/thawte_Primary_Root_CA-G3_SHA256.crt
[redacted]:~$ readlink -f /etc/ssl/certs/thawte_Primary_Root_CA-G4_DSA.pem
/usr/local/share/ca-certificates/thawte_Primary_Root_CA-G4_DSA.crt

Implies the issue is ESO has changed how they authenticate via SSL.

I recently bought a Nighthawk router and did a port forward to my internal IP address for all the registered ESO ports. That did not resolve the issue.

So I’m out of ideas on what further investigation will resolve this. Led to my post here for any advice.

Well, refreshing this post. I did some more research but out of ideas for troubleshooting. Any suggestions from the community are welcome. If I can’t find a solution I think I’ll have to cancel my ESO subscription.

For all who may have experienced similar issue. I resolved the problem by uninstalling Wine completely. Then I launched Lutris and this time instead of a SSL error, I was able to Manage Runners>Mage Wine Versions> and was given an option to install lutris-6.4 Wine version. After that install, I relaunched ESO, got past the login screen and was able to download the latest game patch. Following successful patch, I was able to run ESO again.
