I’m trying to install Red Dead Redemption 2 on my Linux Mint. I know my PC can run the game because I used to play it on Windows.
I’m new to Linux, so my problem might be simple, but I don’t know how to solve it yet.
Situation:
I tried using Steam to install RDR2 and play with Proton support. I tried several Protons, launch commands, different installations, but nothing.
The game starts and crashes.
During my research, I discovered Lutris. I tried installing RDR2 with the two Lutris scripts on the game Lutris web page, and the same error occurs.
I tried running it with the terminal, but the result was: pid 12812 != 12811, skipping destruction (fork without exec?)
Then I tried different things, but nothing. I then thought I might be able to install with the Windows version of Steam.
However, when I try to install Windows Steam in Lutris, Steam won’t open. Error: wine: Read access denied for device L"\??\Z:\", FS volume label and serial are not available.
I then changed the default version of Wine to System (9.0 (Ubuntu 9.0~repack-4build3)) and Steam launches, but once opened, there are no letters; it’s as if the fonts haven’t been downloaded.
I tried changing the Z: folder unsuccessfully.
I hope someone can help me; I’m new to this and I’m doing my best to find a solution
If you can help me launch RDR2 in Steam for Linux or install Windows Steam in Lutris, I would be very grateful.
Hello,
Thank you for your reply!
I tried a lot of different launch commands of the ProtonDB forum, I even filtered for people with the same distro and sepcs then me. No look
I’ll try to read the github link you sent and find something, if I do I’ll post here the solution
