Error "3d graphics hardware could not be initialized"

So recieiving following error messsage (3d graphics hardware could not be initialized) after what seemed to be a successful install of NFS Porsche on Mint with Intel processor. Hoping someone might be able to point this newbie in the right direction. Many Thanks,

No guarantees but I have this running on Mint with intel and I will help if I can.

It fully runs including the cd music.
I have gone through 2 eras and for running an almost 30 year old game on an operating system not made for it, it does fine.

Give me some info like how it was installed and go forward. Also, your log file would help. For a starting point.

And I still can not find a way to get my FF sidewinder wheel to work, causes a crash.

Took a lot of time beating my head on my desk to get this going, maybe I can save some you some headaches.

This usually happens if a wrong runner og bad settings for that runner is used. If I try to launch OutRun 2006 with Wine as runner and VKD3D disabled, then I get the same error even though the game does not use DX12.

I would suggest to try with “GE-Proton” as runner and DXVK + D3D Extras enabled. Right-click the game, open “Configure” and go “Runner options” to find the settings.

Looks like it is sorted.

If anyone else should have the same problem and find this topic, it would be nice if you would add what you did to solve the issue.
