EA App Not Installing

I have tried to install the EA through the Lutris installer on both Xubuntu and Linux Mint. On both distros, the installation appears successful, and Lutris even says it is. Then, I try to launch the app, and Lutris says it cannot find it, and shows “missing”.

What should I do?

If it says missing the installation was not successful.
For me what helped i installed latest wine: sudo apt install wine-staging
and set the wine version at the runners to this 10.2 (wine-staging)
delete and try to reinsall.

You could provide more logs

Not the person you replied to but I am also having trouble with the EA app

When I tried installing it in my wine prefix I already had created the install failed

so I Ran the Lutris install script EA App - Lutris which creates a wine prefix and completes the install

Then if you try actually launching it one time I was able to Login then after that it just crashed when you try and enter your password

The EA app works with Proton (Jedi Fallen order in my steam library) GE 9.26

Then I also tried different wine/proton version wine 8.25 GE 9.22, 9.26

Tried Bottles I was able to login and enter my username and password but if you try and select your games library or install a game in Crashes so not very stable

There is an active proton issue for this so hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I was troubleshooting this today I am on arch but had similar issues. The only way I was able to get the EA app to run without crashing was using wine-tkg-staging from the AUR .

My theory is that the EA app needs a Special Patch that is not in regular wine staging but is in Proton as Jedi fallen order which I have on steam opens the EA app fine

Tested installing the EA app from the lutris installer then I was able to run it without crashes on regular wine staging it crashed consistently at the login screen.

try this:

  1. install wine-staging for your Linux distribution
  2. in Lutris, set WIne default version to “system”
  3. try again to install EA

Hello,
I had the same issue, it was due to switching from wine 10 standard to wine-ge and vice versa multiple times. EA app works well with the last releases from wineHQ or the lutris built-in wine-ge but you cannot switch from one to the other without using a newly installed prefix.
If you have some EA games that require different wine versions, you should use multiple prefix each with it’s own EAapp install, even if it is not practical and break the lutris UI shortcuts.
