Difficulty running or installing battle.net

I was having trouble running battle.net from an existing installation so I decided to try a fresh install. The installation hangs in a very predictable fashion and has not varied over numerous attempts to install.

I’m running Mint 18, Lutris 0.4.14.

I have confirmed installation of everything indicated here: <I guess I can’t post any links at all? this was a link to the page “how to get out of wine dependency hell”> here: <ok, it’s still telling me I can only put two links in a post but I don’t know where the rest are. this one is a Lutris page about dependencies> and here: <removed because new users can only post two links but it’s about /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/p11-kit-trust.so>

When I attempt to install battle.net it will go through all the initial steps fairly cleanly and start up the bnet installer. It asks me to select a language and then I’ll get the progress bar saying “Updating Blizzard Agent…” and it will begin to fill. After the progress bar gets to about where the elipsis is the debug window will start to spew copious amounts of text then pause for a while. Eventually bnet reports error BLZBNTBTS0000005C and gives me the option to close. At this point the debug window will simple add more text every now and then; I think it’s looping through attempts to connect to something.

Any help would be appreciated. I can still play WoW for now but it’s a matter of time till they update it.

Ah. Ah-ha ha. battle.net is a link…

You’re missing dependencies. https://www.gloriouseggroll.tv/how-to-get-out-of-wine-dependency-hell/

That was one of the links I couldn’t post. I’ve installed all the dependencies there that seem to be applicable. The other two links were

and

I’ve installed everything and added all the repositories indicated under Mint or Ubuntu.

0046:err:winediag:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated. Make sure that ntlm_auth >= 3.0.25 is in your path. Usually, you can find it in the winbind package of your distribution.

You have this error, try to install winbind (sudo aptinstall winbind)
If the problem is not corrected with this, send your log again (with pastebin  )

Installed winbind, attempted to install bnet, same result. Rebooted, attempted to install bnet, same result as before with the slight change that it gave me a progress bar for “Downloading new files…” briefly before jumping to “Updating Blizzard Agent…” then all proceeded as before.

I’ve never used pastebin before, I hope I’ve done this right:

https://pastebin.com/MQiiTgaz

Yes, pastebin is better for send long log
Okay we have correct an error but I think the crash is caused by this.
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
libGL error: No matching fbConfigs or visuals found

Do you have an Nvidia card? And if yes do you use the proprietary driver?
The problem seem to be caused by nvidia driver.

I had difficulty following the conversation in the thread you linked but I do have an nvidia card and am using the nividia-390 driver. Is there a specific driver I should switch to or do I need to start dropping down the list till I get one that works?

I seem to recall that I had some difficulty with dual monitors on the open source driver.

It may be worth mentioning that I run the linux native version of Steam and I have to delete redundant graphics drivers that it installs in order to get steam to run. I don’t think that is interfering here because I have had to delete those again recently and I tried to install bnet both before and after and the result was the same.

Switching to the open source driver allows me to install and run bnet but it causes horrible tearing on one of my monitors when scrolling. I suppose I can just switch drivers whenever I need to update. Not ideal but it works.

This is strange
If you have time try to found how to correct this errors

X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
libGL error: No matching fbConfigs or visuals found

I can’t help you more with that, try to open thread on ubuntu/nvidia or wine forum.
Good luck with your issue.
