Hi,
I’ve been running this game for years via Lutris. I recently ahd to reformat my system and went to install Civ IV again, and the process was smooth.
However when I launch the game, I am giving options which version I want to launch; I pick BeyondtheSword.
When that launches, I see the 2k logo flash for a second and I can hear the audio just fine. After that all I can see is the mouse on a black screen.
I’m confused as to what I should do, if anyone has any suggestions, I’d be open to them.
Edit: So the culprit turns out to be the runner I’m using. Lutris defaulted to the latest version of GE Proton. Changing to a different runner (in this case UMU Proton 10.4) resolved the issue.
Why? I don’t understand why that would fix it? Is GE different than UMU (aren’t they both being developed by the same guy?)? What is different in GE that prevents the game from running? Is it a temporary bug, or will it be like this forever and I can’t ever use GE Proton when running this game.
If someone has any insight to offer, I would appreciate it.
