I need help with OW2 and TM 'cause i don’t know what is happening on my PC.
First, what’s happened:
I reinstalled EndeavourOS (not my first time in the last days), installed lutris-git and lutris-wine-meta.
After that i installed BattleNet, log me in and downloaded Overwatch 2. So far so good. I started OW2, everything was fine, but every time i tabbed out of the game, i got a black screen there. I tried to change in game settings but they reset after the next start.
I tried something in the BattleNet configurations with the Prefix architecture and the wine version (i tried caffe), but nothing works. I reset all i changed back, but now BattleNet shows me only a black screen and my PC gets slow.
I tested the tapping out problem with Trackmania (Ubisoft Connect), same issue here. Game is running, i tapped out, tapped in, game keeps black.
After I reinstalled Lutris with Flatpak, I couldn’t longer install either launcher.
After my last reinstall without Flatpak, I could install both again, but BattleNet keeps black and Trackmania closes directly.
You’ve got a lot of moving parts, which will make stuff harder to identify.
A blackscreen whilst alt-tabbing is a most likely a problem with drivers, window system (xorg/X11 vs Wayland,) WINE, or even the game, rather than Lutris.
Can you run a game using Steam (proton) or regular WINE that doesn’t have the issue, or is it just everything Lutris ran?
You can change the runner Lutris uses to launch games to system WINE (staging) and test the game with that. For me, the Free Trackmania in Ubisoft happily runs using WINE Staging 9.16 (fullscreen, but better in borderless - like most Windows games need to work properly!)
First, go back and check the core components.
Make sure you have recent drivers, including Vulkan components (NVidia’s own, or Mesa for AMD and not AMD’s own drivers,) then WINE staging, and Linux Steam if you are running it.
Check for known issues on your driver or hardware. Maybe you’re running a really old mobile graphics chipset with low VRAM on a laptop, or maybe you have a 4090 with insanely high refresh and driver options that doesn’t play well.
When in doubt, don’t keep adding things hoping it’ll fix the problem - installing multiple versions of Lutris is just going to confuse things (e.g. flatpak is basically a sandbox).
Re: Ubisoft - As someone stated in an earlier post, Ubisoft changed a few things that broke connect, but it works in the bleeding edge Lutris Git build (which I run.) The packaged versions will get updated eventually.
