Best way to manage BIOS files when running emulators through Lutris?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been experimenting with running different games and emulators on Linux using Lutris, and overall the experience has been really good. Lutris makes it much easier to organize games from different platforms and launch them from one place.

Recently I started testing a few classic console emulators through Lutris. Most of them work well, but I noticed that some emulators require BIOS files to run properly. At first I was a bit confused about where these files should be placed and how Lutris handles them when launching the emulator.

While searching for more information, I found a guide that explains how BIOS files work and why they are needed in some emulator setups:

Now I’m curious how other Lutris users handle this.

  • Do you usually keep BIOS files in a shared folder for all emulators?
  • Or do you prefer to store them inside each emulator’s directory?
  • Is there a recommended structure that works best with Lutris game configurations?

I’m still learning how to keep everything organized, so I’d really appreciate hearing how others manage their emulator setups with Lutris.

Thanks for any suggestions!
