Battlenet installer gets caught in loop forUbuntu 16.04

EDIT: This first issue has been resolved, please look to the reply to see current issue.

I’m having some issues installing battlenet through Lutris. Battlenet is looping these error messages on install, and will not make any further progress.

Now I should mention that I had battlenet (and starcraft 2) up and running with just using WINE (no Lutris or playonlinux used), but overwatch would not lauch. I had heard that Overwatch works with Lutris and so wanted to try it and am now faced with the situation above.

I did uninstall the previous battlenet installation and removed and reinstalled Wine after receiving the above error message. When trying to install again afterwards the same error message/loop is present. Wine is working for other programs such as steam at this time.

Any ideas?

Edit: I forgot the mention I DO have the dependencies: libgnutls30:i386 libldap-2.4.2:i386 libgpg-error0:i386 installed.

So I got a bit further by following steps 1 through to 5 of this post https://askubuntu.com/questions/846651/installing-starcraft-2-playonlinux. If I was to follow all of the instructions from the link above, Battlenet will work, and so will Starcraft 2, but no Overwatch. Instead I followed the Lutris instructions for installation of Battlenet.

Battlenet now launches and I can sign in. However the instructions from the Lutris installer tell me to sign out before playing any games. I do that, but the Lutris installer is now stuck repeating this error message:

fixme:msvcp:_Mtx_init_in_situ unknown flags ignored: 2

If I try to open battlenet at this time, the computer will think for a moment and then fail to open battlenet.

Any ideas on this?
