Battle.net client dont update

LOL.
I upgraded lutris to 0.5.13 and now getting perpetual update message again.
it’s painful to be on the bleeding edge !

because i had a little trouble finding the Vulkan ICD loader, complete instructions

right-click Battle . net
Configure
System options tab

scroll down a ways.

Multi-GPU section
and in Multi-GPU section you will see “Vulkan ICD loader”

edit: doh. i was confused and thought i had proton 8-12. i don’t, i have 8-10. Guess i’ll go upgrade it…

more info, since assembling everything you need often requires way too much reading on the intertubes

to install proton-ge-8.12

Here’s the releases

go to this directory

~/.local/share/lutris/runners/wine/

extract the file, e.g.

tar xf ~/Downloads/wine-lutris-GE-Proton8-12-x86_64.tar.xz

get back into configure and select it. I did notice that the the newer version has now become default.

And last, but not least, confirmed that proton8-12 does fix my perpetual upgrade request problem.
D2R still working
D3 still working

I just kicked the box a few times, and somehow that fixed it … that and changing the wine version over from the default setting to the selection on the list just one under the default setting. That annoying prompt to “restart and update” seems to have evolved into… oh…glory hallelujah, its no longer there!

Just wanted to update people.

I was using Manjaro for this and ran into the update issue.

Here’s how I fixed it. It was definitely the wine engine you choose to use.

In Lutris, on the left pane towards the bottom where you have:

Flatpak
Linux
Steam
Wine <===== Select the settings icon next to Wine.

Then select the Wine Version. I changed mine to “wine-ge-8-26-x86_64 (Default)”
As this post ages it may be a newer version but don’t select a “Lutris” engine. And the 8-26-x86_64 version definitely works. Wine newer than that should work. Save it and then try to install the Battle.net MD.
