All games hang on "Launching"

Everything was fine yesterday. I’ve not done any software updates.

Today, when I launch any game, the Play button switches to “Launching” and nothing else happens.

It doesn’t seem to be tied to the particularly runner. At least two of them are affected.
If I run Wine manually the games start fine.

Try running lutris -d to get some debugging info.

I experience the same with arch linux.

Same issue too, when i try to launch wine games, it is stuck on ‘launching’, linux games don’t seem to be affected and worked perfectly. So I launched lutris -d and try to play some wine games and some linux games to see the differences, there is the pastebin here

Done some searches on the Forums : i’ve found another topic with the same issue and found an workaround for this issue.

The issue cames with the steam runtime upgrade, i’ve edited the py file as noticed in the topic and finally, it works ! i hope it helps you well, while a lutris script update is available :slight_smile:

/edit: I just went with lutris-git instead of lutris from AUR, this works fine for me :slight_smile:

I’m on Manjaro linux, the file is in /usr/lib/python3.10/site-packages/lutris/util/steam/config.py ; it can be different from this, depending your python’s version and where lutris have the pyscripts installed, it is well explained in the topic in the ‘contentstatsid key’ section

you can have a look in the lutris -d log to see where the steam/config.py is located (it looks to be the same as me)

Just wanted to mention I had the same issue today all of a sudden (all wine games worked a few days ago), and this seems to have solved it.
Any clues as to what causes it? I mean, I understand we fixed it by modifying that line of code, but what actually causes the issue? And why does it happen for non-Steam Games?
