Add Ubuntu 24.04 to launchpad

Hi on Download Lutris you recommend for ubuntu/LM/Elementary downloading it from the github page. I don’t like installing it manual.

I found that you provide a ppa for ubuntu aswell:
https://launchpad.net/~lutris-team/+archive/ubuntu/lutris

  1. Why isn’t it promoted via downloads?
  2. Would it be possible to add Ubuntu 24.04 to launchpad

Would like to use it with LM 22 this way.

PPA has not been maintained in years ergo not promoted

Mint made “decisions” a few versions ago which lead to them not supporting lutris thus the old version in Repo (0.5.9.1 last I looked) and while some thawing between them and the lutris devs has occurred recently, the deb file from the git site is the best method for installing

The ppa provides the newest lutris package for all ubuntu versions despite ubuntu 24.04?
0.5.17
It looks pretty well maintained (2024-04-11)?

LM22 uses the ubuntu 24.04 repos for lutris at the moment:

sudo apt show lutris

Description: video game preservation platform
Lutris helps you install and play video games from all eras and from most
gaming systems. By leveraging and combining existing emulators, engine
re-implementations and compatibility layers, it gives you a central interface
 to launch all your games.

I won’t install a .deb file without a package source.
If I would like to look for updates for each program manually, i would use windows…

pretty well maintained??? Prior update was in 2022 and then just a one off for the 0.5.17 - there were 5 major updates in between. Also check the release date for Noble (2024-04-25) - quite a few of the main PPA’s (including kisak for Mesa) did not support Noble for at least 4 weeks post release.

If you are that concerned about the deb file, download the source code and check it yourself, it is at the same location. No one is making buckets to maintain these PPA’s to make life easy, they do it when they can - so you can add yourself to the list of volunteers to help. Flatpak is another option if you want the updates automated
