Hi.
I am trying to install Eve-Online with the wine install scrip from Dec 2023 Launcher version.

This is what i get after a while:

This is the last what i can read inside the lutris install windows:

I have no idea whats going on here.
A view days ago the script was working fine.

Maybe someone can help me with this.

Hi,
Does that missing file exist, if not we can look into why it wasn’t downloaded by winetricks. You might be using the flatpak version, so things might get confusing.

Make sure your local Lturis winetricks is updated first
~/.local/share/lutris/runtime/winetricks/winetricks --self-update

Test a prefix by installing vcrun2017 needed by EVE installer, which will also download and cache it
export WINEPREFIX=~/vcrun2017test && ~/.local/share/lutris/runtime/winetricks/winetricks -q vcrun2017
…if that works okay, then remove the vcrun2017test directory in your home, and close the terminal.

Run lutris -d from another new terminal, and try the installer again.

Also “cabextract” is not a standard command, so install that if needed :slight_smile:

Nope it didnt work.

But i found something inside the console when i am using the script:

I cant post my findigs here because of to many hyperlinks

but it looks like the file he is trying to download is no longer present.

HTTP response 301 Moved Permanently [https://aka.ms/vs/15/release/vc_redist.x86.exe]

it says SHA256 mismatch!

Oh and i didnt mentioned that i am using NOBARA 40 with the latest updates.

That’s a pretty normal link. If you open that link in a browser, or curl it with “follow redirects” it will still download the right file. The SHA coded into winetricks does get outdated as Microsoft release updates, so don’t worry about that too much.

Please say what didn’t work exactly?

winetricks should have updated without issues - it just downloads the latest copy. If that failed, then please share what it failed with? The second command is purely winetricks and WINE (you do have WINE staging installed, right?) so outside of Lutris.

I do notice I missed the minus in front of the q (for a “quiet” install, now edited) but by confirming the prompts, it should still have installed vcrun2017.

Hi.
i checked the folder where the file should be stored but it wasn’t there. so i think the script was not able to find the file and stopped at that point with a error message.

I was able to get it to work. I downloaded the file by myself an placed it inside the folder. after that it worked just fine.

I have no idea what the problem was.
Maybe a broken link or what ever.

You’re not the first person recently to have failed MS downloads.
Maybe the download is being geolocated to another file, and winetricks is throwing it out.

Last person I responded to with similar issues, I also got them to download manually and put it in their winetricks cache :slight_smile:
It’s a workaround for breaking downloads, but no idea why there seem to be more recently.
